BSK AND GRAMEENPHONE TO AWARD YOUNG BOOK READERS
Bishwo Shahitto Kendro (BSK) and Grameenphone are going to hold a grand prize giving ceremony to award young book readers in a Book Reading Competition on January 15 and 16, 2016.
The announcement was made today in a press conference held in BSK office. The two day ceremony will be held at Ramna Batamul inside Ramna Park and inaugurated on January 15, 2016.
Grameenphone has been a partner of BSK in this noble program of Nationwide Enrichment Program for 12 years now. The ambition of this program is to ignite the pursuit of knowledge from books through the Book Reading Program has been a raging success so far. This year, about 40,000 students from different schools of Dhaka division participated in the program. It is estimated that about 150000 students took part in this program from all over the country.
Every year, three award ceremonies are held in Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna. This year the program will also include Rajshahi division. It is expected that renowned personalities of the country will hand over awards to the winners.
Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, and Sayed Talat Kamal, Head of External Comunications of Grameenphone were present among others in the press conference.
‘Our children hold the key to our future. We must make sure that they grow up as responsible and intellectually capable citizens in order to take our country towards a new frontier.
Undoubtedly, the best way to do this is to encourage them to extract knowledge by reading as many books as possible,’ said Syed Talat Kamal of Grameenphone. Last year, Grameenphone patronized launching of the mobile app of ‘Alor Pathshala’ under its ‘Internet for All’ campaign. The app allowed users to download and read an ever-increasing number of books for free from the e-library of BSK.
