Grameenphone launched Free WiFi service at Chittagong Press Club
Grameenphone has launched a free WiFi zone at Chittagong Press Club premises today. The president of Chittagong Press Club, Mr. Kalim Sarwar, inaugurated the service in presence of secretary, Mr. Mohsin Chowdhury and M Shaon Azad, Head of Chittagong Circle, Grameenphone, Head of Direct Sales (region) Shakib Altaf, Head of Regional Operations (Chittagong) Sanjay Das Gupta including other members of management committee of Chittagong Press Club and Grameenphone officials.
Grameenphone has taken an initiative to establish a number of WiFi zones in important areas around the country under its “Internet for All” ambition. In response of that Grameenphone has launched free WiFi zone at Chittagong Club and Chittagong Boat Club in addition to Chittagong Press Club.
At the ceremony Mr. Shaon Azad said, “Grameenphone is working hand in hand with all its partners to implement the ambition of Internet for All. Providing WiFi at important places in Chittagong is one of those activities. We are also working to bring digital services and contents like My Study, GP Krishi Sheba, WoW Box etc. which are useful to our customers.”
He added, “Grameenphone has 10Mhz 3G spectrum that ensures super speed, super 3G coverage and super voice clarity. Grameenphone is using its network strength to empower Bangladesh. Being the business capital, Chittagong is an important area for Grameenphone. We are operating three online schools in Teknaf, Bandarban and Laxmipur. We have some plans for this region on how we ensure more connectivity and service to our customers here.”
The president of press club, Mr. Kalim Sarwar said, “Internet for All ultimately opens Knowledge for All. Journalists need to be always updated about ongoing issues in this modern world. We believe, internet connectivity will help us for our advancement and progress in our professional life.
” This effort is part of Grameenphone’s ‘Internet for All’ ambition where it aims to bring more and more people under the light of internet. To provide best customer experience, Grameenphone has also spanned it’s network all over the country and this expansion of its’ 3G network in the countrywide is moving at a rapid pace. It is using this strong network as the basis for all the attractive internet offers.
In the Wi-Fi hotspots, Grameenphone customers will see a Wi-Fi SSID named “GP WiFi” in the Wi-Fi option on their devices; after connecting to the GP WiFi SSID customers need to register with their GP number, this generates an SMS to customers number which enable them to enjoy free WiFi Service. One of the largest ISPs of Bangladesh “aamra networks” will provide technical support to Grameenphone in this great initiative.
