Grameenphone-Prothom Alo Internet Uthsab inaugurated
Grameenphone-Prothom Alo Internet Uthsab kicked off today (September 27) with the launch of its first official fair at the Nababganj Pilot High School in Nababgonj, Dhaka. This grand internet festival is a joint collaboration between Grameenphone and Prothom Alo with the aim to spread the power of the internet among the youth of the nation.
The doors to the internet fair opened up for the students, teachers and parents early in the morning and soon the air all over the school was filled with excitement and enthusiasm. Each and everyone present at the event were keen to learn about the wonders of the internet and how it could change their everyday life and make it easy.
State Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman, Ministry of Science and ICT inaugurated the grand exposition. Prof. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, Munir Hasan, Advisor, Ministry of Science and ICT, Matiur Rahman, Editor Prothom Alo, Grameenphone, Syed Tahmeed Azizul Haque, Head of Corporate Communications, Grameenphone and Abu Mamun Hashmee, General Manager, Stakeholder Relations of Grameenphone were present on the occasion and inspired the audience with their speeches.
Throughout the entire day students from Nababganj Pilot High School and 9 other schools of the Upazilla participated in the event to explore the world of the internet. The students also took part in a knowledge-based internet competition where the participants browsed the internet to find out the answers. The winner was declared as the “I-Genius” and was recognized as the Internet Ambassador of the locality to help spread the benefits of the Internet within their community.
To foster the benefits of the internet even further, several audio visual presentations were shown to the students, teachers and parents to enlighten them about the internet. Various interactive game sessions were arranged for the audience where they had the opportunity to win attractive prizes. Hands on internet experience were also provided to interested students, teachers and parents through both mobile phone & computer.
This campaign will continue till November 3 and will travel throughout the nation arranging such festivals for over thousand schools and educational institutes to encourage the youth to apply the power of technology in their daily lives.
