“Saint Joseph Higher Secondary School of Dhaka became the champion in The final gala round of i-Gen (Internet Generation) 2015, the internet-based competition co-organized by Grameenphone and Daily Prothom Alo, held on March 10, 2016 at Basundhara International Conference Centre.

The champion team won a total scholarship worth Taka 25 lakh. The champion school was awarded with internet lab set up in the school premises for all of its students. The scholarship was sponsored by First Security Islami Bank Limited (BDT 10 lac), GP (BDT 10 lac), Woori Bank (BDT 5 lac) along with Laptops for Internet lab sponsored by Microsoft.

“Habigonj Govt High School” and “Bogra Cantonment Public School” became the first and second runner ups respectively. First runner-up team won scholarship worth Taka 10 lakh sponsored by Ekhanei.com and the second runner-up team won scholarship worth Taka 5 lakh by Mutual Trust Bank Limited.

Education Minister, Nurul Islam Nahid was the Chief Guest of the program. Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Motiur Rahman, Editor, Prothom Alo, Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director, Channel I, Mahmud Hossain, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Grameenphone, Yasir Azman, Chief Marketing Officer of Grameenphone along with other senior management members of the telecom operator graced the event with their presence.

Grameenphone, the leading telecom operator in Bangladesh, and Daily Prothom Alo, the highest circulating vernacular in the country, has been co-organizing i-Gen since 2011. Over the years, it has become the biggest internet based event in the country, and has covered 2000 schools with direct participation of around 9 lakh audience last year.

Besides Prothom Alo, iGen 2015 event was endorsed by The Ministry Education of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh along with renowned partners like Alpenliebe, Microsoft, Opera Mini, Ekhanei.com, Mutual Trust bank Ltd., First Security Islami Bank Ltd., Woori Bank, Channel i & Radio Foorti.
