Telenor Youth Forum 2017 in search of upcoming talents

May 14, 2017

Telenor Youth Forum 2017, the fifth edition of its kind, is looking for talented individuals to represent Bangladesh. The announcement was made at a press conference today held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka.

The Telenor Youth Forum (TYF) is a global program that is designed and hosted by Telenor Group and the Nobel Peace Center (NPC). This joint initiative is based on a belief that young people can use digital technology to drive real change in the world.

“In the last four editions of the Telenor Youth Forum, delegates from Bangladesh have made the whole nation proud and presented themselves highly in front of the whole world with their talent, innovation and persistence. We believe this year will be no different, if not better,” said Quazi Mohammad Shahed, Chief Human Resource Officer of Grameenphone.

The last date of application submission for Bangladesh is August 10, 2017. Application can be submitted through following link http://www.telenor.com/youthforum/apply-for-tyf-2017/.

Applicants between 20-28 years of age are eligible for TYF17, which will be held in Oslo, Norway, from December 8-10, 2017. The selected delegate will be working virtually throughout the TYF year with their assigned teams. Their work will, over the course of the year, create digital services that address urgent social challenges originally posed to them at the event’s kickoff in December.

Entries will be shortlisted through a defined selection process culminating with three finalists being selected by the local team of judges at a final gala event later this year. Selection of the final two candidates, travelling to Oslo in December, will be made by an international selection panel consisting of representatives from civil society, academia and Telenor top management.

In last year’s Telenor Youth Forum, Rafsan Sabab Khan and Ramim Ahmed, both students of IBA, University of Dhaka, were selected to represent Bangladesh at the global event in Norway. The Forum is an ongoing conversation that is both physical and digital, and not confined to the Oslo event alone. It is followed up with a TYF Asia Summit in one of the Telenor Asia BUs.
