Each year in Bangladesh more than 2 million youth looking to join the workforce with opportunities of employment or entrepreneurship. However, due to a wide skills gap that exists between academic -based learning and the real workplace requirements, only a handful are able to successfully fit into a decent opportunity. Thus, the harsh reality of unemployment is aggravating every year in our country.
Post pandemic with education institutions being closed for long periods of time, the situation has only worsened with more young people without access to work. FutureNation program has emerged in the context of the post COVID-19 world as a collective effort to create decent work and entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth of Bangladesh. The idea is that the youth workforce will be able to gain a set of capabilities to access higher paid jobs both locally and globally which would yield a stream of income in years to come. FutureNation has focus on also building the next generation of entrepreneurs across the nation
FutureNation is unique and first of its kind in its formation structure to become a catalyst in the national development agenda. The program marks the first PPDP (Public, Private, Development Partnership) alliance between the United Nations Development Program, Grameenphone (as) the lead private sector partner, joining hands with the Government to drive this critical journey ahead. Bangladesh is a country of dreams and the realization of the dream over the next 20 years depends on our young population who are becoming ready for work. Future nation is working to create a conducive environment for the youth, with the expectation that apposite skillsets will generate economic opportunities for the future.
FutureNation has already started work in the ecosystem, kicking off the partnership with Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) and Bangladesh High tech Park Authority (BHTPA). Several skill development and economic opportunity programs are underway to open up for enrollment in the coming days.
