The Most Exciting and Educative Science Festival in Bangladesh

An inaugural ceremony of IGNITE- A Science project jointly initiated by Grameenphone and The Daily Star was held on March 22, 2014 at The Daily Star Centre.
 
IGNITE is a project initiated to spark the interest of Bangladesh's youth in science, engineering & technology by arranging the most compelling and engaging science festival of the country.

IGNITE will engage the secondary school level students (Class VI-Class X) of Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet. Both GP & The Daily Star are expecting to reach out more than 2 lakh secondary level school students and their teachers and parents.

Competition will take place in three major categories, namely, Discover Science, Idea Flight and Imagine the Future. All related contents and competition guidelines will be available in www.ignite-bd.com. Science festivals and street shows will be arranged in all three divisions to engage students, teachers, parents and scientists community with this initiative.

High officials of both the Grammenphone and The Daily Star believe, IGNITE will turn out to be a catalyst in revitalizing science education in Bangladesh and establish the viral encouragement our young generation needs for their engagement with science.

Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, Professor, Computer Science and Engineering, BUET, Mahfuz Anam, Editor & Publisher, The Daily Star and Syed Tahmeed Azizul Huq, Head of Corporate Communications, Grameenphone Bangladesh Ltd were present in the inaugural ceremony. The Advisory committee of Ignite is consisted of eminent educationist including Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad and Dr. Zafar Iqbal.
