Grameenphone has partnered up with UNICEF Bangladesh to provide SMS connectivity to the U-Report platform (16629) for free. The U-Report is a platform that runs polls on various community issues across the country. The polls are targeted toward young people who want to be involved in social good. These young users will then become ambassadors of change in their communities on the issues related to UNICEF supported causes. It gives them a platform to be a part of a greater initiative around disaster preparedness, gender-based violence, nutrition, civic engagement, etc. This tool helps UNICEF connect with target communities and collect information that will aid in taking the right measures.
The service was launched on 31 July 2018 at a national event hosted by Ministry of Women and Children Affairs of Bangladesh.
